More Than a Consultant. Someone Who Gets It.

I didn't come to this work from the outside looking in. I came from the inside.

I'm April Vian — clinician, author, speaker, workplace inclusion consultant, doctoral student in applied psychology, and founder of Bridging the Gap. I also have ADHD. I've spent my career studying, treating, and advocating for neurodivergent individuals while simultaneously navigating my own neurodivergent brain through building businesses, raising a family, and doing the kind of work that most people would find overwhelming on its best day.

I know what the research says. And I know what it actually feels like.

I've spent 15 years working with neurodivergent individuals and their families — in clinics, in homes, and in the organizations that employ them. What I've seen consistently across all of those settings is this: the systems we've built — in workplaces, in schools, in homes — were designed for a specific kind of brain. And when people don't have that kind of brain, we tend to blame them rather than the system.

That's what I'm here to change.

Traditional approaches to neurodivergent employees focus on compliance, consequences, and corrective action. They ask neurodivergent people to mask, adapt, and perform neurotypicality — often at enormous personal cost. And when that doesn't work, which research consistently shows it often doesn't, the employee is labeled difficult, resistant, or not a good fit.

I take a different approach. One grounded in evidence based behavioral science, built around skill acquisition rather than punishment, and designed to work for the full range of human brains — not just the majority.

When you build for everyone, everyone wins. That's not just a tagline. It's something I've seen proven out over 15 years of clinical work.

Bridging the Gap exists because I couldn't find the resources I needed — as a clinician, as a neurodivergent adult, or as someone trying to help the organizations I worked with do better. So I built them.

Through Bridging the Gap I offer: — Speaking and keynote presentations for organizations and conferences — Consulting and training for HR teams and organizational leaders — Workshops for employees and leadership teams — Books, courses, and resources for neurodivergent adults navigating daily life

Whether you're a business looking to build a more inclusive workplace or a neurodivergent adult looking for practical tools that actually work for your brain — you're in the right place.
